The art of European craftsmanship from Strunal
Strunal is located in a village on the German border in the western Bohemian region of the Czech Republic. The entire community has focused for over 400 years on the profession of fine instrument-making. Initially influenced by Italian makers, then German, one of Europe’s oldest violin-making schools was established here in 1873. Numerous craftsmen and master makers became centralized, now called Strunal for Stringed Instruments from Luby (Czech). Production is monitored by highly skilled masters. Woods are stockpiled and aged for many years. New processes and instruments styles are continually and creatively explored.
